Candle in the Dark Campaign Diary - Session 16: Let me tell you about our lord and savior Bahamut...

The Cast:

  • Enid, half-elf cleric of Bahamut
  • Nashgar, dragonborn paladin of Bahamut
  • Leilua, tiefling warlock
  • Corrin, halfling barbarian

Facing a young blue dragon that is alert and ready to fight, the heroes quickly consider their options.  Nashgar enters the chamber and tries to talk Mekkalath the dragon into following Bahamut instead of Tiamat.  The dragon plays along, mocking the dragonborn, and says that soon his patron will be leading her legions of following into ushering in a new Age of Tiamat!  So, with that a fight breaks out and the heroes battle the dragon.  Fearful that he had misjudged the capabilities of the mortal creatures,  Mekkalath tries to flee, but the heroes strike him down before he is able to escape.  The dragon's hold on his kobold followers is broken and they filter into the room, but they are quickly overcome by the evil influence of Baphomet that permeates this dungeon, so the heroes rest and then seek out the source of the evil.  With the aid of a quasit servant that claims to be the familiar of Mage Lord Starris, they locate a hidden chamber containing a statue of Baphomet.  Enid and Nashgar work together to channel the power of Bahamut into their attacks against the statue, destroying it and banishing the influence from the kobolds and the dungeon.  The kobolds, now free from Baphomet's evil, flock to the heroes as their saviors and get to work cleaning up the Vaults.  The heroes receive another holy boon from Bahamut and know that there is but one more cleansing that must be done to restore Gardmore Abbey to Bahamut's grace, and that is at the Gate.

The heroes depart the Vaults and head over to the Gate.  There they all feel the presence of something that does not belong and see the efforts the orcs have made to try and enter through the gate. Piles of orc bodies, some fresh, some not so fresh, lay before the gate, torn apart by a formidable force.

End of session.
